Smith won a Memorial Cup with the Toronto Marlies in goal in 1964. Typing a NHL he earned a nickname Suitcase Smith because of the heavy total of teams he played for. His number 1 succeess was sharing a Vezina Trophy with Tony Esposito when he played with a Chicago Blackhawks. Inside 1974–1975 he also experienced a great year by using a Vancouver Canucks with 72 games palyed and sise skunk.Around 1979 while he was in the WHA with the Winnipeg Jets he led them to an Avco Cup. He played for several more teams including a California Golden Seals.
